I don't know anything about their specific grievances or working conditions, but more unionization these days is almost certainly a good thing. Animation has traditionally been a harsh work environment, even in the best of shops. There has been a lot of crunch work over the past couple of years, but I also can not say if there was any specific reason for their unionization.
