colliding 03/07/22 4:00:42 PM #30: | It's not that bad. It definitely feels as though these voice actors were handed scripts with extremely basic directions and they didn't do many re-takes. Like Serenoa's voice actor probably got a bunch of lines with *impassioned* or *sympathetic* next to it and that's it. the thing is, a lot of modern videogames get away with slightly sub-average voice acting because the voices are accompanied with a cg or in-game cutscene. you can get away with a bad line reading thanks to the drama of the scene or the facial expression. you don't get that with retro 16/32 bit homage games. additionally, in a story heavy game like this, it's useless anyway because you really just want to read the text and not have to wait for someone to speak it. i can see how it's "too much story" if you're waiting for all of these lines to be spoken and not just reading at your own pace. otherwise I think the amount of story between battles is fine. --- while you slept, the world changed ...
