The fact that your wife unilaterally decided to remove a common shared household appliance behind your back and refuses to let you get another one--with no reason given--is kind of a giant red flag. Making big decisions that affect multiple people unilaterally is bad. What's worse still is not being able to discuss it like an adult. Like, if she has a phobia of dryers, you could discuss it like reasonable people.

You can approach this a variety of ways:
"The kids are really upset that we don't own a dryer, and to be honest, it bothers me too. Why don't you want a dryer?"

"Honey, I don't appreciate that you got rid of our last dryer without telling me first, and the kids and I think we need to get another one."

"I'm going to buy another dryer unless you can tell me why we shouldn't have one."

Or, failing all that, you can do your clothes at a laundromat. But really now, it's the dryer today, but what will it be tomorrow?
