I dunno, it's kind of like saying "Basketball is hard". It's like, what's your approach, what are your goals, what are you willing to put in, and what is too frustrating for you to continue? At the end of the day fighting any boss in a Souls-like still comes down to using two joysticks, your B/O button, and one or a few of the shoulder buttons. The only "thought" that goes into it is memorizing a couple dozen animations and developing the correct reactions to them. At any point you can grind for more levels if you really want to (And grinding, if we're being honest, usually doesn't take a ton of time if you use a little bit of planning or simple research). It's not a complex task, there aren't many systems you need to learn to do it, and a little bit of research on the internet can give you in-depth explanations of multiple ways to do it.

I think the bigger issue, at least for people who are familiar with easier action games, is either pride or low tolerance for delayed gratification. Pride that prevents you from seeking help or using simpler, more ideal strategies, and a low tolerance that makes the accomplishment unworthy of the work needed. Neither of those are indictments of the person, honestly, but it's why many people clash with Souls-like. That's okay. You don't have to play Souls-like if you don't like delayed gratification.

My conclusion is that Souls-games are not particularly complex or meta-adaptive systems despite the veneer, and thus I can't honestly say they are particularly hard. They're challenging, in that they require determination and practice, but the challenge is surmountable by most people as long as they have the motivation to do so. Or, in other terms, Masters level mathematics is "hard" in a way that is far, far more unreachable than the way in which digging a hole is "hard". Most people can dig a hole, they just don't want to. Not everyone can become a professional mathematician.

There are, however, plenty of games that set milestones that are not accomplishable regardless of motivation or tolerances. These are games with innately complex or mechanically difficult systems that stress even high-level players consistently, and they can range from something like Europa Univeralis 4's more difficult achievements (The depth and width of the many systems has a high knowledge barrier and requires excellent critical thinking skills and absolute systems mastery), competitive FPSes or MOBAs like Counter-Strike, Overwatch, or LoL (Often combining layered meta-strategies and near-perfect mechanical execution), to the Advanced Squad Leader board game (A deluge of situational and complicated rules intended to precisely simulate combat that puts a premium on memorization combined with active reasoning and tactics just to get started). If we are having a serious conversation about "difficulty", then these are important concepts to consider separately.

Look here steakhead, I didnt ask for your 2 bit opinion of what was easier or harder and I am not complaining, (Believe me youd know it if I was complaining) I asked a simple question. I didnt ask for a lecture on how you or anyone else does things.
