Now that I'm awake...

It's no secret that the ARMBAR is just a battle royal for a trophy and nothing more. In fact, this discussion occurred last year, but here's what we know...

ARMBAR winners
2014 - Cesaro. A big deal at first, not only because he was the first, but also because he scoop-slammed Big Show to win it. We thought a push was gonna happen, especially with brief ties to Paul Heyman, but all we ended up getting was tag team specialist Cesaro until his departure this year

2015 - Big Show. Kinda fitting, due to being the (kinda) successor to Andre the Giant. Wouldn't do anything else relevant afterwards, though to be fair, he didn't need to at this point of his career.

2016 - Corbin. One of two ARMBAR winners still active on today's roster, his claim to fame has been one entirely forgettable US title run, a King of the Ring, and 5 different gimmick names (Baron, Constable, King, Sad, and Happy)

2017 - Mojo. So forgettable that the guy Mojo eliminated to win said ARMBAR was WWE Champion a month later, while he himself was delegated to Main Event tapings. Only briefly relevant once due to Gronkowski; a few 24/7 reigns later, Mojo was gone.

2018 - Matt Hardy. Only memorable for setting up the tag team with Bray Wyatt. A tag title run followed, and then next thing we know, Matt is back with Jeff for one briefly forgettable run. Finally, Matt gets conchairto'd and sent off to AEW.

2019 - Braun Strowman. Strowman added this to his list of Battle Royals won, and found himself main eventing with Seth Rollins later down the road. Would finally get a world title run in 2020, though that was mainly because of Covid.

2021 - Jey Uso. Someone here said it perfectly last year. Jey Uso went from being Roman Reigns' right hand man, to being Roman Reigns' right hand man with a trophy. It's reasonable; Jey did pretty well for himself aligning with Reigns and while a mostly meaningless accomplishment, the ARMBAR is nevertheless an accomplishment.

I potentially see one of four winners in this year's group: Balor, Priest, R Truth, and Jinder. Balor and Priest don't need it, considering they're already fighting over a belt. Jinder is the guy WWE continues to make us pay attention to with failing results.

So this year, I say fuck it: Give the trophy to R Truth. He already spent the last 3 years making one irrelevant title something, why not another?
