If we didn't get them on Wii U after the Gen 1/2 games were put on the 3DS, then there's no way they would put them on the Switch without the ability to connect to the GB games, since importing your Pokemon into Stadium is a core aspect of the games. And with the 3DS eShop shutting down soon, it would be pointless to release them going forward, since no one will be able to download the Gen 1/2 games in the near future.
