Topic	Why do racist people call both Indians and Native Americans Indians?

The understanding I grew up with was that they didn't use a name to identify themselves with. Now I realize I probably just had a bad teacher that didn't know much about the subject herself. As for the topic of why do people still call them that. Those people might not have been taught any better than I was. --- No locked doors, no windows barred.
