But he said he's not offended! I am white and offended for him because I decided it was offensive so he has no choice but to be offended too! I am a good person! I AM OFFENDED FOR THEM!
???

I don't decide if it's offensive. This was decided by their people, and some of them aren't offended by it. I'll adhere to being generally non-offensive to Native Americans, who deserve a lot of respect, and if a friend of mine likes being a "Native" or "Indian" (definitely more of an American thing, I'm Canadian, never met someone that goes by "Indian), then he or she can be a proud Native or Indian.

You're the one that thinks this is some big complex deal of white people trying to control language when the change of terminology didn't originate from them at all. You also seem far more up your own ass about this and how it 'should be', whereas I'm talking about being generally respectful and then dealing with individuals on an individual basis. I'm not going to regale a guy that identifies as "native", or "indian" that he should be "first nations", that would be fucking stupid.

I've worked with a fair few different tribes and have friends from different tribes. What's your background with Native American people? Reading on the internet?
