I feel depressed, probably because all these years, I kept telling him that he was doing something wrong. I always thought that only rude, broke, obese, unhygienic and bad looking men sucked at dating apps and others had a fair chance.

lololol this is great. A rule of thumb I have is that if you notice a decent percentage of people have a problem (Something that's far beyond "you're the only one I know with X problem"), there's some societal effect that makes it a lot harder for them to do on their own.

I'm not trying to discredit personal responsibility, but there's some a line between something people with common knowledge should be able to accomplish versus having to sit down, diagnose the situation and engineer a solution with consultation for outside perspectives, that's a lot to expect the general populace to do without giving up.

Reminds me of this story:

The relevant tl;dr version is a lesbian thought she would masquerade as a man for a while and, when it came to dating, found that it is actually really hard for a guy; there is a lot more pressure as a man and that women are very cold and cruel to the men they reject. She admits that she faced so much rejection that she struggled with feeling resentment toward women in general.

I need to pick up the book because I thought this 20 minute piece was quite solid.
