This is actually a pretty solid group of four. An obvious choice that would have been in 64 if not for time/memory constraints, a character that helped bring a long-overdue franchise to the west, an initially silly clone that ended up serving a legitimate purpose in later games, and a fun WTF character that made us realize Sakurai would be really digging into the vault for later rosters (not to mention a tribute to a then-recently deceased Nintendo executive).
