I'm holding out until I learn what the actual gameplay gimmick is. Parry and Focus Attack were great, but the V-system was far too undercooked.
The website and Playstation Blog goes in-depth into it. It's got a "Drive" system with its own bar that self-replenishes over time. If you use it all, you enter a state of Burnout with severe disadvantages, creating a risk/reward kind of system. Using pips on the bar you can perform:

  • Parries. With a successful parry you gain some Drive meter back, Perfect Parries offer prime followup opportunities.
  • Focus Attacks. Unleash a powerful attack that can absorb enemy blows and break guard, inducing wall bounce as well.
  • EX Moves. You do EX Moves with this bar instead of them using the Super meter.
  • Dash Cancel. Uses either 1 pip or 3 pips depending on if it's used out of a parry or a normal. You can dash forward as a followup.
  • Alpha Counter. You can use part of the Drive gauge to counterattack out of a block.


Also they're giving legacy characters some new shit. Ryu now has an install and Chun-li is now a stance change character like Gen. They also seem to just be generally making the V-Trigger system just normal moves for these characters now.
