Increasing the price tenfold would be a deterrent to a normal person, but obviously someone capable of a mass shooting is absent the kind of rational thought process the rest of us use. I'm afraid several of the following outcomes are likely:

(1) a future perpetrator will simply save up enough money to purchase the weapons, all the while that extra time gives them more opportunity to better plan their massacre;

(2) a lunatic who is impatient will simply rob or burglarize a company or individual to gather the necessary funds;

(3) the disturbed person will simply forego those types of firearms and just purchase some basic handguns, which may abate the number of deaths in an ensuing shooting but it won't prevent deaths from happening
