Topic	Anime fights where the MC is already equally as strong as the main arc villain

Idk about anything after that as I skipped the weird Christian missionary arc from the anime and never finished the manga. >_> It's a hard call. He had Aoshi and Soujiro to go through beforehand. He was clean one-shotted by SECRET SWORD TWO, so that could end it then and there. The writer did make a big point of Kenshin having motivation though, I think he said at the end of the series that were Kenshin and Saito to fight, Saito would win unless Kenshin had something bigger on the line or someone to fight for, maybe having that as a power up condition puts Kenshin above Shishio. Depends what you count as character strength and what's just circumstance. The manga was pretty good and has me wondering, was Kenshin stronger than Enishi? I think I remember them saying Shishio would beat Enishi, but Enishi built his moveset from the ground up to hard counter Hiten Mitsurugi.
