I have a ton of sympathy for suicidal and bullied people, I've been there. Will that mindset work for everyone? Probably not but I'm sure it could help a lot of people and prevent a lot kids from killing themselves. Generally speaking, "just shrug it off" is thoroughly useless - if not outright harmful - advice for people struggling with definite mental illness. It can sometimes help some people, but overwhelmingly your default should be to sympathize with the person instead of trying to make them feel like a failure for caring. --- This is my signature.
