It took forever to get good, Xenoblade 1 and X both pretty much start right away and showed you what the battle system is like within the first hour. XB1 is also significantly simpler to get into as well.

Of course, I guess it depends on what you initially didn't like about 2's combat. Movement speed in battle is a lot faster in 1 and X, you have access to more Arts at a time that you have to scroll through, Arts are on an automatic cooldown instead of being reliant on auto-attacks (which you also do regardless of if you're moving or standing still).
