Not that I agree with them, but I do understand how an individual's opinions aren't simply given to them because of their race, sex, orientation, etc.

A person can be Black and think, "Everyone should have a gun and know how to use it. I'll teach my 8-year-old how to use a semi-automatic." A person can be gay and think, "People don't deserve more pay. They need to work harder and spend less."

I know prejudice from within one's own camp should be a deterrent, but there are always people who think they can prove they're one of the good ones. And, honestly, not every conservative is a bloodthirsty goosestepping Nazi in their day to day life.
