I looked into it and there seem to be FAR more than just politicized controversies regarding this series, and even then it probably comes down to just the idea of someone trying to put their own spin on Middle-Earth after the massively successful Peter Jackson trilogy. The first one anyway at least. Having said that, I know for sure there is politicized backlash against Rings of Power already from people who insist that Middle-Earth is meant to be a stand-in for Anglo-Saxon England or something and that it therefore makes no sense to cast people of color...even though it's blatantly obvious this is a completely new Middle-Earth mythos. Which is a problem unto itself, sure, but why act like the inclusion of people of color is really that big a deal in that case? --- Why do people act like the left is the party of social justice crusaders? ...
