I would say that it doesn't have to be a "usual" case to be worth it if the audience was large enough. 10% of viewers watching the source material could be a lot. There's also all the lead up marketing and hype that could already entice people. Certainly lots people who never heard of cowboy bebop or one piece or what have you will learn about it cause of netflix.
