Immediately ban Trade Unions It is named after the fasces, a symbol of ancient authority. The person that held the fasces could expect his orders to be obeyed and had the power of life or death over his subjects. Mussolini adopted this symbol to show he had supreme authority over those he governed. Strangely enough, you see this symbol all over the place in the US, most prominent in the house chamber. I always find it interesting every time the President gives the state of the union seeing the fasces behind him.
