I would drive to Chicago, or the Black Hills, or St Louis, or maybe Denver (although that's borderline). Anything further than that and I want a plane. All I see on the drive is corn unless I drive north to lake country so I don't feel I'm missing anything. My agency has a small 6-seat commuter plane, and I happily use that to fly to meetings in the northern part of the state when available, too: I don't need two 5-hour drives.
