Saw Nope yesterday. I'm glad I saw the second trailer because I'd have probably been disappointed in the film had I not. It's definitely not much like Get Out or Us; honestly, I have a tough time calling it a horror film even. It's much, much more sci-fi leaning and not really in the way Alien is (I consider Alien a horror film over science fiction). I didn't dislike it, it had its moments I think. It's no Get Out unfortunately; I'm not sure if I liked it more than Us. They're just very different films. Overall I think Us has higher highs, but also lower lows. Nope doesn't really have "lows" in that same way; it just is what it is, and I have a hard time viewing it as horror.

I guess I'm a bit behind on seeing horror films this year. I've only really seen the ones dropped in theaters (not gonna count Doctor Strange as horror... though honestly it might be more so than Nope, but I'm going to lump Nope in for now).

1. The Black Phone
2. X
3. Scream
4. Nope
5. The Cursed (technically a 2021 film, but had its release in 2022 in the US)
6. Firestarter
7. Men
