Basically. The fights are real time and you spend a meter that constantly builds up to perform moves. I think the game is pretty fun, but my only complaint is that there really isn't a lot of high level content once you get a bunch of teams to max level. There's an Elite 4 event you can do once a week and some legendary pokemon fights, but that's really it outside of hard special events once in a while >_> Everything else is pretty easy
