#21: Kid Eternity
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/1/7/1/AAOJ0pAADZFT.jpg
The Kid is thinking man's superhero. And he does a lot of thinking before he opens his mouth. Don't believe me?

The dog. His sniffer had sought out the Kid, and the Kid was grateful, but this dog was no more than a pup. He didn't know war. He thought he knew death, but creating death wasn't living it. Knowing it intimately, when a friend dies in your arms, snuffed out cruelly by a cold and calculating foe, shuddering as each labored breath attempted to escape a throat strangled with the suffering of the last moments of life. The pup didn't know dying, had never felt the final lingering beat of the heart slam against the chest, like a gunshot echoing through the hollow rib cage of the Kid when he spiraled downward into Hell. Downward, downward, sliding through the shit and the muck of damnation, the blackened filth of sin that swallowed him whole and filled every pore, every orifice, drowning him, stuffing him, filling his empty vessel with its ick, its damnation. And the Kid could do nothing to stop it. This pup - he didn't know the Kid. He couldn't. The Kid had been dead - and only the dead could walk with him on this lonely, lonely road ahead.

"Hey," he responded.

This is The Kid, Kid Eternity, in a nutshell. He's been though a lot in life and in death, and he's all about that internal monologue. He's the only character where we're allowed to get those insights into their mind (out of character), and it's really just so funny to see a wall of text of something our characters don't get to know, followed by "Hey". It's just so ridiculous.

As for what The Kid can do, with the utterance of ETERNITY, out from beyond death will come someone temporarily. It used to be someone he could choose, but after Thomas Edison attempted to force Kid Eternity to summon an entire army for him to fight with, Kid's powers have gone a bit haywire, and his summons have become more random. His summons for us have been from the likes of Alfred Nobel to Juliet Capulet to the Green Lantern Flodo Span to an assassin cat to Vesper Fairchild.

And boy, does The Kid not like being a toy for people to go to for summons whenever they feel like it. He's on good terms with many of these people whose spirits he calls upon, and what is occurring in the great beyond should be respected, not played with. And yet The Kid continues, perhaps because he wants company, perhaps because it means he'll be surrounded by beautiful women, or just because he wants to figure out what is happening with the afterlife, as some souls have been trapped in nothingness.

Oh, right, remember what I brought up in H'san Natall's entry, the conflict between the Endless? It's possible that because of that, there are souls not being taken to the afterlife, instead trapped in nothing. So in all this fun others are having, Kid Eternity has a problem. Few people are as in-tune with the afterlife as he is, and it seems as though some souls are having a great deal of trouble getting to that afterlife. This requires investigation, and that requires calling upon more souls.

This would be no issue for The Kid if he could pick and choose who he called upon, setting up a timeline of when this issue occurs, but with his powers acting up, all he can do is hope that whomever he calls upon is able to help get a bit more information on this terrible tragedy, all while bearing the weight of knowing that when the soul he calls upon's time is up, he's ultimately the one sending them back. They might not even be making it back even, and instead of sending his friends, or at the very least these souls that deserve something, back to the afterlife, he's sending them to the abyss. To nothing. It's a heavy weight to bear, and surely one that we as the players we get to witness, but might stay far from the ears of the characters who seek him out.

Kid Eternity is a rare opportunity in this campaign for something completely random to happen, tied to an extremely unique personality that has a voice all his own. All it takes is one word, say it with me...

ETERNITY!

Hint for #20: This character is young.
