I remember an interview where the interviewer mentioned Vin Scully was the most trusted man in Los Angeles. Vin Scully replied that he believed it was because he had a very old school way of commentating. He told the plays as it happened whether it made the Dodgers look bad or not. Other commentators tried to make their home team look good at all times even if it meant bending the truth. Dodger fans appreciate Vin Scully's type of honesty.

Crazy that he's gone. This is even more catastrophic to Dodger fandom than Tommy Lasorda's death. He was the last link to when the Los Angeles Dodgers were the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was commentating games when Jackie Robinson was in his prime and radio was still the way to follow games at home.
