It's a waste of time that adds up as you go to become a cumulative annoyance. Most people who want to play a game like RDR want to do it for the fun shooting and horse riding, or even for the hunting (or maybe for the tying people up and leaving them on the railroad tracks part), not because they want to be forced to maintain their stats like in a survival game.
