Topic	George RR Martin was kept out of the loop about later Game of Thrones seasons.

There were three things that the showrunners knew up front that had to be kept secret. Jon's parentage, Hodor's story, and the ending. Problem is that once they ran out of source material they had to work towards that material and that ending without the actual knowledge of how to get there which is when it fell apart. It's bullshit now that people didn't like the ending that Martin is doing the "well that wasn't the real ending".
