We've had some solid finals in previous years, but yeah, this one absolutely feels like a deserving one, for B8 in particular

it's a much different experience doing the Best New Characters of years as they come, and Best New Characters of years that have had time for the characters to grow in notoriety

Fun fact: This isn't the first time a Portal character has reached the finals. In 2011, Wheatley lost in the semi-finals AND Cave Johnson lost in the finals, both to Louise Belcher (Bob's Burgers). Louise also managed to topple every character introduced in season 1 of Game of Thrones that year (admittedly, vote counts were much lower back then, and she won with a mere score of 7-6).

What's interesting is characters who've won over the last few years, like Joe (Soul), Killmonger (Black Panther), Edelgard (Fire Emblem) are all really solid characters, but I can't help but wonder if they'll actually having the staying power of characters like GLaDOS and Nathan Drake a decade from now.
