After all these years, I feel like I still dont truly get Criterion.

Like, how is this release going to differ from the already available 4K release? Has the picture been even more improved? Or does it have a ton of new bonus features? I dont understand how that makes something special when any studio can release a movie with a new remaster and bonus material.
They're still one of the best home video producers in the world, but a lot of their reputation is based on their Innovations in the home video market in the 1980s. They basically invented the concept of a special home release of a movie - the first audio commentary ever recorded was for their laser disc of King Kong - and they've generally kept up a high standard over the years. There's a lot of boutique label competition right now, though, that basically didn't exist until the late 2000s or so.

As for this particular title, it does contain some new features on the film's creation and influences, and a liner notes book which sounds like it could be quite hefty. Big studios, especially Disney, rarely treat their home video releases with serious critical analysis (good or bad, it's usually fairly fluffy), and it's basically unprecedented that Disney would ever let one of their animated properties receive anything like that, and from an outside party.
