Ah, keep the poor's unarmed.

We're trying to keep them alive.

USA has very high rates of gun accidents. From small children accidentally killing family members with loaded guns that were lying around to guys neutering themselves while attempting basic gun maintenance, this shit doesn't happen elsewhere.

Here in Canada just about anyone can buy a gun despite licensing requirements. You take a safety course, pass a background check, and store them in a gun safe, which can be pretty much anything with a lock on it. They don't have to be made of steel or cost hundreds of dollars. Guns also must be unloaded when stored.

Surprising no one, in a country with basic safety regulations where people who have guns actually know how guns work, we have very few injuries and deaths due to forearm accidents, and almost 100% of the few that do occur are due to someone not following the rules.
