Week 1 it was extraordinarily tight. You didn't need DRK/GNB, but it was very likely you needed to swap something around unless you were already running a meta comp - my group was WAR/DRK/SCH/AST/SAM/BLM/RDM/DNC until 8, and the first phase DPS check forced our RDM to swap to MNK. After that it was smooth sailing.

It is a hopeful sign that SE buffed WAR and PLD, but it's also frustrating that RDM, MCH, and to a lesser extent SMN were all completely untouched when they all need help as well. Easing the DPS requirement on one fight can only go so far - it doesn't change the underlying fact that job balance is the worst it's been in a while. (Granting the premises that a) if you aren't looking to clear the tier week 1 balance doesn't really matter to you, and b) a good 95% of the playerbase is not at a skill level where balance is truly relevant to their results - as Squeenix themselves once said, job effectiveness will vary based on player skill.)
