If it really does happen, it would be in the news Well, of course cigarettes were obviously the main theory, but not all of the victims smoked. Several cases happened in front of witnesses. In most cases it was only the victims burnt with little to no damage to the furniture around them. Most of them had appendages left, such as only their feet. They had a video trying to recreate a scenario using a pig carcass, but were unable to burn just the carcass without burning the surrounding area. Thats all I can remember, but this was many moons ago.
