for those who don't know, there are mass protests in Iran, where the "morality police" killing a young woman for not wearing a hijab/wearing a hijab improperly was the tipping point:

The first woman to ever win a Fields medal was an Iranian mathematician. She died back in 2017 from a terminal disease. Her international reknown as a pioneering mathematician was so great that several Iranian newspapers and showed pictures of her without a hijab.

I wonder how much of an effect that had with what is occurring now. I'm not saying it was the catalyst.

Her name was Maryam Mirzakhani
