Despite sounding like an old traditionalist conservative boomer yelling at clouds a lot of the time, Cornette is actually one of the most liberal-leaning people in the wrestling industry in terms of his actual political beliefs. It's kind of a strange disconnect, but it works.It's a facade. He votes Democrat and is outspoken about the usual talking points because he comes from a very wealthy family that had a lot of pull in Kentucky back in the day. It's this old school sense of trying to keep up appearances. The only reason he's ever gotten work in wrestling is because of his father. He's not chud-level by any means but he has his moments. He repeatedly used a potentially transphobic slur to refer to AEW's Sonny Kiss, he views Japanese wrestlers as 'below' Western wrestlers, and he's constantly saying misogynistic things about women who wrestle. It speaks volumes how despite his political views, an overwhelming majority of his audience and social media following consists of right-leaning boomers who don't like modern wrestling because it's not as ultra-machismo as it once was.
