I remember enjoying it a lot at the time, but almost none of the show stuck with me despite having watched the whole thing. It's just kinda hazy and dreamlike to me, and the whole show has a certain tranquility to it. Very strange series but definitely one to check out for anyone who wants something comfy and low-stakes. Also, it avoids most of the creepy slice of life anime tropes, assuming I didn't block them out during whatever fugue state it caused me to slip into. Speaking of creepy anime tropes, Monogatari. I've been meaning to finish it for years and regularly watched bits here and there, before being entirely put off by the actions of the MC. I just can't get past it and I wish a show with phenomenal direction and some great writing didn't repeatedly drop episodes where the main character commits sex offenses that are played for laughs. The surrealism drew me back in after being put off, but it's such a constant feature of the series that it's impossible to escape when watching. --- Perhaps the golden rock was inside us all along. ...
