Laid-Back Camp movie beated. Pretty disappointing stuff. Guess I shouldn't have been surprised, since it's a non-canon movie written by someone other than the original author, but this seems to have a great reception for some reason, with a MAL score better than the series. There were definitely good parts - all the characters are nice, and them hanging out is fun. The camp project is neat, too. But there was some stuff I really disliked. Why isn't Rin the kind of adult who goes camping every weekend (I know people in real life who does this all summer)? Why does the movie spend so much time on her ultra depressing job? Why is there no solo camping? Why don't we get any emotional cathartic moments? What's the point of the stupid drama derailing the movie a bit over the halfway point? It's all such a waste. They tease the idea of Rin going camping in foreign countries at the beginning of the movie. That would've been far better than what we got. I even thought the Heya Camp specials were better than this...
