ElatedVenusaur 10/01/22 7:16:12 PM #7: | I do like how the article raises how we treat children at the end: we mostly treat children as extensions of their parents as opposed to independent people, albeit ones who are not yet physically mature. I knew I was trans by the time I was 6 years old, but I certainly didn't understand what I was feeling, because I wasn't provided the language to make sense of what I was feeling, let alone to express it It's true that kids don't always understand long term consequences, but they are people and they're a lot smarter and more capable than they're generally given credit for by our society. It's why childhood in this country is fucking miserable: it's designed around being measured by an endless battery of tests and carefully controlled and curated by adults. --- I'm Queen of Tomorrow baby!
