We've discussed this particular clip, and the Men vs Women sport wage gap on this site already, but...

Instead of discussing NBA vs WNBA, let's have the same discussion about Major League vs Minor League Baseball.

It's pretty obvious that, despite both of them being professional levels of baseball, MLB is MUCH more popular and much more lucrative than MiLB.

So the tickets are more expensive, the stadiums are larger, they generate more money, the TV deal is better, so the players are more well compensated. And it obviously has nothing to do with the sex or gender of the athletes, as they are all men.

This is the same metrics to measure. The average paid attendance of an NBA game is 17,184. The average paid attendance of a WNBA game was 2,636. The last NBA TV National contract was a 9 year deal that averages $2.7 BILLION a year. WNBA's is a 5 year deal for $27 Million a year.

It's simple math. The NBA generates more money because it is a more entertaining product. People want to see athletes dominate a sport. NBA and WNBA may be the same sport, but it sure as shit isn't the same game.

Look at women's Tennis. It's as popular as it's ever been. Why? Because when you watch it, on the surface, there really isn't that much of a drop off of what a women's match looks like when compared to a men's match.
