It doesn't seem it's a requirement to become BFF with all your coworkers. Just acknowledge them when they do you and that's it. Thinking what other might be saying or not saying about you in your absence would drive someone insane. Chances are these people are just like strangers you pass everyday and don't really give you a second thought. I understand anxiety issues don't make sense though and the brain thinks what it wants to think.
