Topic	Why do companies force you to make long passwords?

You asked for the reason why, and the reason why is plain and simple, it reduces account theft. Personally, I think passwords are obsolete and should be phased out, instead using OAuth, 2FA, hardware TPM, fingerprint scanners, face recognition, pretty much everywhere. People are replacing them with password managers anyway, that automatically generate and save upper and lowercase 30 character long random strings, which makes it a pain to sign in to a tv on a little remote.
