In terms of how they influenced/represented my getting into RPGs (and how that evolved over time), probably something like:

Super Mario RPG
Tales of Symphonia
Knights of the Old Republic
Trails in the Sky

Really hard to pick most of these. SMRPG is the only true lock because it was the game I got obsessed with as a kid before I really understood genres. Symphonia could possibly contend with some other games of around that time like Fire Emblem and Golden Sun: The Lost Age as when I "rediscovered" RPGs and could finally put a term to why I liked these kind of games. And then KOTOR and Trails are a bit more conceptual - Knights of the Old Republic was my (late) intro to WRPGs more or less and Trails absolutely took over my life for a few years even if I feel that that grip has loosened the last few years to the point where I almost want another spot to try and figure out what best represents the present for me.

HMs: Persona 3 FES, Planescape: Torment, Xenosaga III, Bloodborne (if it counts), Nier, .hack
