The problem I have is that there's minimal (or no) build-up to the moments when characters get in trouble. It's like a comedian who keeps shouting punchlines without enough setup.

yeah, this definitely felt weird my first time watching it. the movie does its own thing and expects you to follow along more than try to anticipate it or root for outcomes

that said the actual scenes are very enjoyable/interesting, so i find that hard to hold against it much!
