More Star Trek hot takes:
I like that Harry Kim is just a regular dude, for the most part. He's not a great character, he's just a regular dude. Worse version of O'Brien. His best is his holodeck antics. He'd fit right in on a series like Lower Decks. I wish they would have killed him off, just to make him more interesting if nothing else.

If I had to name the worst Voy character, I'd say Chakotay. He creates issues with Seven, is written terribly in general, and is pretty racist. The way he handles merging the Maquis and Starfleet is pretty terrible, too, if you don't accept the hand-waving. I really hate Neelix and Harry is just kinda there, but they're not patently offensive. Chakotay does have some great episodes, though, when they let Robert Beltran break character.

I agree with you on both counts, dude. Harry Kim is great. I like his podcast Delta Flyers. Seems like a genuine down to earth dude.

Chakotay was *racist* but the writers were misled. The team desperately wanted to have a character channel Native American values so they hired Jamake Highwater to consult with for the creation of the character. Too bad it turns out Jamake Highwater made a career scamming people on Native American beliefs misguiding an entire generation.
