Previous Twitter owners are at fault for selling the company to a bad faith actor in the name of the almighty $.

I had this kind of thing happen at one of my old jobs. I worked at a company named Outernet. About a month after I started, a company named One Source Networks bought them out. It was a bit of a strange transition, but things went OK. Then about a couple years later, GTT Communications bought One Source Networks. This was October of 2015. The CEO of One Source Networks didn't want to sell, but he was out-voted by others on the board.

GTT Communications was fucking terrible. They would buy a new company every quarter, cut said company in half, and then lay off some of their own employees. This isn't sustainable in the slightest. By the time they bought OSN, they were already at the point where they had products they didn't know how to support because everyone who did support them either quit or got fired or laid off. Their CEO at the time was a snake as well. They would have all-hands meetings every 2 weeks or so I think and the dude would just lie about stuff. A few months after they bought OSN, he said they had fully integrated OSN's network into theirs. That was a flat out lie. The senior network engineer from OSN was in the meeting, and we all looked at him when he said that. He just shook his head and shrugged.

I was already in the process of getting my CCNP Route/Switch certification for the first time, but GTT was so bad that I started rushing through the process. I had to pass 3 exams to get it (ROUTE, SWITCH, and TSHOOT). It took me about 4 months to study and pass CCNP Route, but I had done that before the GTT thing. Then we had to move to the GTT office . I read the CCNP Switch book in like 2 months and passed the exam. The TSHOOT book was like 960 pages. I read a bit of it and realized at least a large portion of it was review of ROUTE and SWITCH stuff. So I just said fuck it and took the exam. I failed it by 10 points because I ran out of time. I took it again the following week and passed. Within 30 days of that, I had two job offers to get out of there, and I jumped at the one with higher pay.

GTT in 2016 was the 4th largest IP backbone provider in the world. They've since gone through a class action lawsuit and they've sold off their entire IP backbone to go back to just being a managed services company.
