On the other, the entire recount campaign he ran after the 2020 election was very obviously doomed to failure from the start, and yet he still insisted on sending lawyers after everyone he could find until he started facing actual charges for the fallout of that campaign (Jan 6th). He genuinely believes that the only way anyone could beat him in a popularity contest is by cheating, and I actually don't think he has the self-awareness to recognize that he wouldn't be able to win if he ran as an independent. I also wouldn't put it past him to run just for the sake of trying to get more votes than DeSantis out of spite, with little regard for winning overall (though presumably he'll still claim that the only way the Democrats win the election is by cheating). --- This is my signature.
