He felt too strong to use in my actual party so early, and I tend to favor Pokemon that evolve, but I also like grinding out levels on Pokemon one by one, and I use Flamigo as the backup. So if I'm grinding against wilds, for instance, I'll have Pokemon X and Flamigo. If I'm in danger of dying, I send in Flamigo to finish things off.
