i am only 10 hours so far but the combat is amazing. the setting takes place in a fictional world, in a city called valhalla, a semi-independent city-state created as a buffer zone between 3 superpowers. valhalla is rife with organized crime so the police recruit groups of officially licensed mercenaries called troubleshooter to take care of the gangs and cults.

the worldbuilding is pretty unique, it takes places in fantasy world, with psi abilities, monsters, and such but with modern, grounded city design like modern day earth with some sci-fi elements added in too.

so far each characters is their own classes and there are more than 2 dozens characters. there are no generic unit afaik, just characters. each level up on their own, and get introduced as the story goes.

main progression and the unique selling point about the system is the mastery. masteries are basically passive abilites (sometimes they grant active abilities too) you earned during battle, based on your action and you can equip them to any of the characters. each character have their own unique abilities and archetypes, but with masteries, you can tweak their core build into something else, or optimize their own innate abilities.

i have heard praises about the combat and character system long before i played the game, but what i didn't expect is how much i adore the story and characters. you play as albus, a rookie troubleshooter graduate looking to build his own company. along the way he met other people joining in their cause and getting rid of the crime in the city. there is a central mystery too set up early in the game. albus' main motivation is uncovering the secrets of the disaster 10 years ago that left him orphaned. the characters are all likeable and their interactions are adorable and i love their design.

and yes, waifus, there are a lot of waifus if you're into that. for example this sniper lady:https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/0/2/2/AATCxZAAD8M-.jpg

there are no dating sim elements but i really enjoy the cutscene and conversation between characters.
