I'm an alcoholic by most people's standards, but thankfully I haven't gotten to a point where I'm not able to see that drinking at my particular job is really fucking dumb.

I've seen people get hurt plenty of times already without alcohol being involved. I've seen people lose fingers or get their hand crushed in a machine and things of that nature.

Reading through the blue books personal stories, it seems like most of the people started out drinking like we do, and it wasnt until ~10+ years that they got to that point.. obviously YMMV in your level of addiction, but what may seem completely unreasonable now (drinking in the morning / before work) can become easier for your brain to spin as a normal thing years down the road of continuous hard drinking.
