Yes, it snows frequently in southeast Nebraska, but usually not too much. The one-day record for Omaha is 18 inches, in 1965, and the annual record was 64.5 inches in 1948, but the average is 25.6 inches per year.

Last year and so far this year have had very little snow, but the winter 2018-2019 was one of the worst. There were drifts literally 4 feet deep in places. I had to get up every morning and shovel a path down the 1/4 mile driveway to where our cars were parked, and the wind would fill the path back up by the afternoon so I had to shovel the path out again, and overnight the wind would fill it back in and I'd have to start all over. I started wondering if I'd died and gone to hell because it felt like I was doing this for an eternity.

Then one day it was like someone flipped a switch and all that snow melted in a single day. The driveway and cornfields turned into rivers

The Platte and the Missouri overflowed in a 500-year flood, shattering all kinds of records and closing down numerous highways and I-29.
