What about the frozen lobster tails you get at the supermarket?
You have to kill it and freeze it pretty quickly. I think they say it has to be less then 24 hours. So for areas where lobster isn't native, it is usually easier to sell and cook lobster live if you want "never frozen" lobster.

It might just be me, but I have never known anyone to cook/eat a whole lobster outside of a restaurant setting. Most of their edible meat is just in the tail and claws anyways, so might as well just get a frozen tail.
