In the decade since that movie came out, people didn't mention it except when it came to comparing box office returns. People didn't buy Avatar t-shirts or toys. They didn't play Avatar video games. They didn't ask, "When does the next Avatar come out?" Nobody was parodying the movie. If you look at Star Wars, Jurassic Park, or Harry Potter, those things all get talked about when there isn't a new movie. Movies and TV shows quote them, reference them, parody them. That's cultural impact. Now, with this being Disney, they're probably going to merchandise the hell out of it going forward and make sure that nobody forgets Avatar again. But, for the past twelve years or so, that film has been dormant and not many have thought twice about it in that time. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
